Speech & Audiology Department

Auditory and Speech Training utilizes certain manual and technical devices to develop listening skills and impart training for appropriate speech production. Following equipment is available at the center that is used to record and assess the hearing loss in children and adults with hearing impairment:

sPEECH TRAINING

  • Brain stem evoked response audiometerY (BERA)
  • Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA)
  • Doctor Speech
  • Speech Trainer
  • Impedance Audiometry

EAR MOULD LAB :

Voluntary Medicare  Society in colloboration with APPI ( Azim Bhai Premji Philanthropic initiatives) inaugurated a lab at P&O unit of VMS in Feb 2023, where ear moulds are fabricated. The lab is first of its kind in the valley, as prior to this all such cases were sent outside Kashmir for fabrication , the transit would take almost 20 days. But in this lab , the ear mould can be fabricated and fitted the very next day of casting. All ENT centres of Srinagar referr such cases to VMS lab.

Ear MouldsFrom Feb 2023 to July 2024 this lab has successfully fitted about 100 ear moulds to beneficiaries. The ear mould charges are one third of the market cost.
