Education assistance forms a cornerstone of its efforts, with annual financial aid ranging from Rs 2800 to Rs 48000 provided for up to two children of registered workers.

to mitigate the burden of medical expenses.Additionally, workers who suffer permanent disabilities exceeding 50 percent are eligible for substantial relief of Rs 4.5 lakh, while those with temporary disabilities between 25 percent and 50 percent receive Rs 75,000.Medical aid extends to workers who are incapacitated due to illness, offering payments that vary based on the duration of their inability to work.For instance, a worker who is away from work for over a month can receive up to Rs 27,990, ensuring they are not left financially vulnerable.The board also provides critical support in cases of death, with Rs 2 lakh granted to the dependents of workers who pass away naturally and Rs 5000 for funeral expenses.In the event of accidental death, the compensation rises to Rs 5 lakh, offering solace and security to grieving families.To support female workers, the board provides maternity benefits of Rs 5000 for up to two children, acknowledging the dual roles many women play in balancing work and family life.Marriage assistance of Rs 50,000 is also available to eligible beneficiaries, reducing the financial strain of family events.Recognising academic excellence, the board has introduced a one-time scholarship award for meritorious students of registered workers.The initiative, launched in the current financial year, celebrates achievements in Class 10 and 12 examinations, providing additional motivation for young scholars to pursue their dreams.A senior official emphasised that these schemes reflect the board’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the construction workforce.By addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by workers and their families, the J&K BOCWWB is not only improving individual lives but also contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.The transformative impact of these schemes highlights the importance of institutional support for labourers in unorganised sectors.The J&K BOCWWB serves as a model of how targeted welfare measures can empower marginalised communities, providing them with the tools and resources needed for a brighter future.
