Voluntary Medicare Success Story

World Braille Day

"Today, on #WorldBrailleDay, Voluntary Medicare Society came alive with the spirit of inclusion and empowerment as visually impaired individuals and their families from across the valley gathered to celebrate the legacy of Louis Braille. The event was a beautiful blend of performances, emotions, and hope.
Students from the VMS VI Unit presented a touching skit, created in collaboration with Enable India, that shed light on the challenges faced by the visually impaired and the vital role of family and technology in overcoming them. Inspired by the performances, parents pledged to embrace modern tools and techniques to support their children’s independence.
The day also featured an enlightening presentation by Mrs. Rifat Yasmeen (VI insructor) and encouraging words from our Chief Guest, Dr. Saba Wani, Assistant Director Health Services Kashmir, and Guest of Honour, Mr. Asrar Durrani, Director of DURREIN Tea Limited.
Er. Mushtaq Ahmad Malik, Secretary VMS, passionately spoke about the need for accessibility and equal opportunities for all and expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made the event meaningful. Together, we celebrated not just Braille but the resilience and potential of the visually impaired community.
