VMS
The society is registered with the registrar of societies J&K Govt. under No. 130 of 1970. The Society is located in the serene Environment spread over 46 kanals nearly 10 Km away from Srinagar airport, adjacent to Skims Medical College Bemina on National Highway Bye-pass Srinagar.
The Voluntary Medicare society of J&K was established in the year 1970 as a medico-social voluntary organization dedicated to the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of physically and mentally challenged persons irrespective of caste, color, creed, and religion. It was founded by Dr.Mir Mohammad Maqbool (Retd. Professor and head of ENT Deptt. Government Medical College, Srinagar with the support of few doctors.
Initially, the society visited far-flung areas of the valley and treated hundreds of deserving ailing patients whom specialist care and necessary treatment were given at their doorsteps, and those needing hospitalization or surgery were brought to hospitals.
Over the years, Society has grown to aim to improve the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
